5 Metabolism Boosting Tips for Guaranteed Weight Loss

Weight loss for some can be fun, and for some a complete nightmare. While some may hit the gym to lose those extra pounds, others may resort to crash dieting and weight loss pills. The urge to lose weight can actually end up doing more harm than good. While losing weight is crucial, more importance should be placed on losing it the right way.

One of the keys to a safe weight loss program is keeping the metabolism high – on and off the floor. Restricting your diet helps to a certain extent, but boosting the metabolism can really help speed up the weight loss process. Here are a few tips that can help you reach your desired weight target by merely keeping the metabolism high!

Cardio Training

Set the alarm, put on your sneakers and go for a run. There’s no alternate to this one. One has to introduce a cardio activity if she/he is looking for losing weight. This will help you to start burning those extra calories as the metabolism increases during the time of activity. Start by a 20 min cardio activity and slowly increase it. This will also help you build your stamina and stay more active in day-to-day activities.

Weight Training

Another proven way of shedding weight loss is weight training. A brief session of weight training of 30-40 minutes a day can help to keep the metabolism high for the next few hours, which in turn aids in weight loss. Weight training helps the body get in good shape and also inspires you to eat and stay healthy.

While it may seem as just some body twists, yoga is actually quite beneficial in boosting the metabolism. The yoga poses not only strengthen the core muscles but also tone them. Here are a few yoga poses that can help you to keep up the metabolism:

Eat These to Lose Weight

  • Eat more of Omega-3 rich foods
  • Choose Green tea over caffeine and regular tea
  • Consume a nutrient rich breakfast everyday
  • Enjoy multiple small meals
  • Keep away from Trans-fat rich foods
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Consume whole grains, lentils, and low-fat dairy products

1. Kapal Bhati pranayama

  • Boosts metabolic rate
  • Stimulates abdominal organs
  • Improves digestive tract functioning
  • Results in a taut and trimmed down belly

2.Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana

  • Stimulates abdominal organs
  • Enhances digestive system functioning
  • Improves blood circulation

  • Tones the thighs, knees and legs
  • Helps get rid of cellulite
  • Improves body posture

  • Enhances digestion
  • Stretches and tones the abdominal organs
  • Strengthens the lower back

The mind is stronger than the body, since it’s the mind that keeps you going even when the body grows tired. The Paralympics are a proof that the mind is stronger than the physical body. Hence, we must also work towards keeping the mind healthy as well. This is where meditation can help you. Meditation brings focus and makes your mind more alert. It also helps you to visualize your end result – a new leaner you. Visualization is another good practice that makes your physical efforts easier as you have already visualized and experienced the effort at a very subtle level. Make a meditation a daily practice and see the change for yourself.

Eat light, Eat right, Eat Often

While there are many ongoing controversies on what to and what not to eat, going green is definitely a safe option. Eating veggies is lighter on the stomach, keeps fats at bay, and is digested easily – which in turn again keeps the metabolism activated. Eating often results in keeping the pseudo hunger at bay and avoids one from getting into emotional eating. Eating often also keeps the metabolism ticking and is yet another good way to weight loss!

Remember that your body reflects your state of mind. A sharper mind can result in a sharper body and vice versa. So, if you are still looking for the magic mantra, it’s all of the above.

Government Executive Program

Governance in India is witnessing a paradigm shift. Most organizations today are under immense pressure to deliver their objectives, while the human resource and the environment is not always matching up. We believe change begins with the individual. A public servant today faces pressures from many quarters which pose a challenge to his/her efficiency and effectiveness in discharge of duties. There are pressures not only at work, but also in one’s family and social lives. These impact an individual’s health, efficiency, and morale. Often one feels the need to learn some skills and tools to handle such pressures and lead a more effective and meaningful life. These pressures also add up and impact an organization’s performance. The Art of Living acts as a facilitator to the willing organizations in building a positive work environment and bringing a mindset change.

Government Executive Program (GEP) is Art of Living’s flagship offering for the Indian Government organizations – Central Government, State Governments, Subordinate Departments, Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, Armed Forces / Police Forces, and Training Institutes.

The GEP has been designed specifically keeping in the mind the needs of Public Servants and daily challenges faced by them. The program makes an impact at many levels – to the individual at a personal level, to the immediate working environment, and to the organization as a whole. The Training Program incorporates practical, simple and effective methods which draw upon ancient timeless wisdom and have received wide acclaim. The appeal of the Training Programs cuts across all barriers of religion, caste, creed or socio-economic status.

So far hundreds of Government Departments, both at Center and in various States, have extended the benefit of the Program to their officers and staff, including Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Home Affairs, External Affairs, Finance, Defence, Railways, Civil Aviation, Youth Affairs, Mines, Power, Road and others. Many Training Institutes, PSUs, Police Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Army, independent bodies like CVC, CEC etc, Parliamentary and Assembly Secretariats, and many more organizations have also reaped its benefits.

Our internal feedback mechanism reports that more than 90% participants feel more energetic, free from stress and achieve greater mental focus and clarity. The impact on working environment is evident from the fact that more than 90% participants report higher preparedness to take new challenges and improved efficiency and interpersonal relationships. A significant 80% feel that the program creates a positive work environment, is likely to lead to more ethical behavior and contributes to organizational growth.

After Follow Up Session

An Introduction to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

An Introduction to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is humanitarian leader, spiritual teacher and ambassador of peace. His vision of a stress-free, violence-free society has united millions of people the world over through service projects and the courses of The Art of Living.

Numerous honors have been bestowed upon Sri Sri, including the highest civilian awards of Colombia, Mongolia and Paraguay.  Sri Sri has also been conferred with 15 honorary doctorates from around the world.

Sri Sri is the Chancellor of Sri Sri University. He is the Chairman of the Quality Control of India Yoga Certification Committee.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is also a member of the Amarnath Shrine Board (appointed by Government of Jammu and Kashmir, India). He was the Chairman of Reception Committee for the 500th anniversary celebrations of the Coronation of Krishnadevaraya (by Government of Karnataka, India).

The Beginning

Born in 1956 in Southern India, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was a gifted child. By the age of four, he was able to recite parts of the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Sanskrit scripture and was often found in meditation. His first teacher was Sudhakar Chaturvedi, who had a long association with Mahatma Gandhi. He holds degrees in, both, Vedic literature and physics.

Founding The Art of Living and the IAHV

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar entered a ten-day period of silence in Shimoga located in the Indian state of Karnataka. The Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful breathing technique, was born. With time, the Sudarshan Kriya became the center-piece of the Art of Living courses.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar founded The Art of Living as an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization. Its educational and self-development programs offer powerful tools to eliminate stress and foster a sense of well-being. Appealing not only to a specific population, these practices have proven effective globally and at all levels of society.

In 1997, he also founded the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) to coordinate sustainable development projects, nurture human values and coordinate conflict resolution in association with The Art of Living. In India, Africa and South America, the two sister organizations’ volunteers are spearheading sustainable growth in rural communities, and have already reached out to 40,212 villages.

Inspiring Service and Globalizing Wisdom

A noted humanitarian leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s programs have provided assistance to people from a wide range of backgrounds – victims of natural disasters, survivors of terror attacks and war, children from marginalized populations and communities in conflict, among others. The strength of his message has inspired a wave of service based on spirituality through a huge body of volunteers, who are driving these projects forward in critical areas around the globe.

As a spiritual teacher, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has rekindled the traditions of yoga and meditationand offered them in a form that is relevant to the 21st century. Beyond reviving ancient wisdom, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has created new techniques for personal and social transformation. These include the Sudarshan Kriya® which has helped millions of people to find relief from stress and discover inner reservoirs of energy and peace in daily life. In a mere 31 years, his programs and initiatives have touched the lives of over 370 million people in 154 countries.

A Figure of Peace

As an ambassador of peace, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar plays a key role in conflict resolution and spreads his vision of non-violence at public forums and gatherings world-wide. Regarded as a neutral figure with a sole agenda of peace, he represents hope to people in conflict. He has received particular credit for bringing opposing parties to the negotiating table in Iraq, the Ivory Coast, Kashmir and Bihar.

Through his initiatives and addresses, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has consistently emphasized the need for reinforcing human values and recognizing humanity as our highest identity. Fostering interfaith harmony and calling for multi-cultural education as the remedy for fanaticism are significant parts of his efforts to achieve sustainable peace on our planet.

His work has touched the lives of millions of people around the world, going beyond the barriers of race, nationality and religion with the message of a “One-World Family”; that inner and outer peace are possible; and that a stress-free, violence-free society can be created through service and the reawakening of human values.
